Background information:

Hope in Unity is an Organisation who provides support to those in the black community who are 60 years and above who are socially isolated, vulnerable and lonely (but not exclusive to those who are faced with these situations). We are committed to offering a unique and culturally supportive service to our users. We offer a range of activities that are beneficial to a person’s physical and mental wellbeing.  

Days we operate   Monday and Tuesday    

Hours of operation: 10.00am – 3.00pm 

Main Duties to include: 

• Help to set up and put away chairs, tables and equipment used on the day. 
• Setting out beverages and serving service users (tea and coffee)
• Washing up and putting away cups and utensils.
• Support supervisor with dealing with the days tasks

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Hours of work will be flexible working within the organisations operating hours
• Must be a good team player, reliable and be able to follow instructions 
• Must have the ability to work on their own initiative and be flexible in your work approach
• Be organised and tidy in your work and excellent communication skills
• Be able to carry out tasks given confidently.
• Must be able to read and write. 
• Must have excellent personal hygiene standards and be always clean and presentable.
• Absolutely must enjoy being around elders and be respectful and mannerly.
• Must be friendly, outgoing, approachable, patient and considerate

• Computer literate  
• Must be willing to work under Covid Guidelines due to service users’ vulnerability.
• Ideally have creative flare  (crafting, design, modeling)

Selection Process for Volunteers

• A Disclosure, Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken prior to being offered the role to the successful candidate. 
• Informal interview
• Up to date CV required
• References will be undertaken (please provide on CV)
• Regular reviews formal and informal will be undertaken 
• Successful candidates will go through a Volunteer induction.
